FAQs

What video tapes can you transfer to DVD?

We can transfer VHS, VHS-C, Super VHS-C, Video 8, Hi8, Digital 8 and Mini DV to DVD.

Can I watch the DVDs on my TV and computer?

Yes, the DVDs will play on a DVD player connected to your TV. They will also play on a computer, laptop, Sony Playstation II and Microsoft Xbox.

What else can you transfer?

We transfer all types of memory cards to DVD (SD, MicroSD, MiniSD, Compact Flash, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick xC, MicroSDHC, MiniSDHC, RS-MMC, SDHC, SDXC, etc)

Footage from video tapes and memory cards can be converted to all video file formats, for editing, or viewing on YouTube, iPADs and smart phones (AVI, WMV, MOV, MKV, MPEG2, MPEG4, 3GP, SWF, FLV). The digital video file can be saved to your hard drive, or USB flash drive.

We also transfer vinyl records, audio cassettes and micro cassettes to CD and to all audio file formats (MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, FLAC, AAC).

Can you convert foreign NTSC tapes to play on UK DVD players?

Yes, we can convert foreign NTSC videos to UK (PAL) DVDs. If you wish to keep them in the original NTSC format, we can do that as well. We also make the DVDs region free, which means that they can play in all European, American and Australian DVD players.

What is the best way to archive my home videos?

We recommend ordering a second DVD copy of each transfer. This way, you can watch one DVD and archive the other. We can also provide extra DVD copies for sharing with friends and family.

It is best to request extra copies, when you order the transfers, because we do not keep a copy of your footage. If you decide to order extra DVD copies at a later time, this will still be possible. You just need to send us the DVDs that you want copies of.

Your footage can also be archived by transferring it to a video file format and saving it to your hard drive. The best quality format for archiving is AVI, which is uncompressed footage.

What type of DVD discs do you use?

We use high grade DVD-R and DVD+R discs from Verbatim.

How much video will fit onto a DVD?

Up to 2 hours of video will fit onto one DVD.

What is the turnaround time for transfers?

It depends on the number of tapes or memory cards. For most of the year, our average turnaround is 2-3 working days for smaller amounts of 5 tapes or less and 5-7 days for larger quantities.

How do I get my tapes to you?

We make it easy for our customers, by providing a free local collection and delivery service, from and to your home or work place.

For customers who do not live locally, we offer a safe and secure drop off and collection point in central Kingston, or the option to post your media to us. Please contact us, for further details.

How will I know when my transfers are ready?

We will notify you by phone or email.

Will my video tapes be returned?

Yes, of course. They will be returned with the digital transfers.
